Incredible Week/Une semaine incroyable

What a great week we just had! Many congratulations need to go around!

Quelle belle semaine! Nous avons plusieurs félicitations à rendre cette semaine!

First off, congrats to Cathy for getting into the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital! (hi, hi, hi) Actually, Cathy recently signed a contract as a researcher with FPH that will carry through to the end of the government fiscal year (March 31st), and with the potential of being extended for another year.

Premièrement, félicitations à Cathy maintenant qu'elle est rendue à l'hôpital psychiatrique! (hi, hi, hi!) Elle vient tout récemment de signer un contrat de travail comme recherchiste à l'hôpital, qui lui donnera du travail jusqu'à la fin mars, avec, espérons, une possibilité d'extension jusqu'à Avril 2007.

Second, congrats to the Carleton Ravens' Men's Basketball team for their 4th CIS National Championship in a row. Cathy's alma matter won the championship last Sunday by defeating the University of Victoria Vikes 73-67 to win their 4th consecutive CIS National Championship.

Deuxièmement, félicitations aux Ravens de Carleton, l'équipe masculine de basket-ball qui vient de remporter son 4e championnat national CIS d'affilé! Ils ont su battre une forte équipe de l'université Victoria dimanche dernier, 73-67 pour son 4e championnat consécutif.

Third, congrats to Riley who's on the up and up! At our last visit to the vet, his protein levels had gone back to normal levels, so we've fixed the initial problem, woo hoo!! Now we just need to get some weight (he's lost over 30 pounds in the last 6 months) back on him and he'll be good as new. I took him to Ultimate all afternoon on Sunday, and he chased his football during breaks and lounged in the sun while I played. It all made it seem like it never even happened! Welcome back buddy!!

Troisièmement, félicitations à Riley qui semble être mieux! Le dernier test sanguin indique que son niveau de protéine est revenu à un niveau normal. Alors le problème semble s'être réglé! Maintenant il ne reste qu'à mettre un peu de poids (il a perdu au-dessus de 30 livres en 6 mois) sur son corps et il sera tout beau, tout nouveau! Dimanche dernier, il est venu au Ultimate avec moi. Durant les entractes, ils chassaient sa balle, et pendant que je jouais, il prenait du soleil. C'était comme si rien étatit arrivé!! Tu nous as manqué mon chum!!

Last but not least, congratulations to Surinder and Raman (middle two) for their wedding on the weekend.

Dernièrement, et non pas le moindre, félicitations à Surinder et Raman pour leur beau mariage le week-end dernier.

Cathy and I attended Surinder and Raman's Anand Karaj, which translates to "Blissful Union". It was a very traditional Sikh marriage which started at 10am and lasted well into the night. We arrived in the morning and saw Surinder dressed up in his traditional wedding attire and see both families performing Ardas which is a common Sikh prayer.

Cathy et moi étions invités à leur Anand Karaj, qui veut dire "Union heureux". Ce fut un mariage traditionnel Sikh qui commençait à 10h le matin et terminait dans les p'tites heures du matin. Nous sommes arrivé à temps pour voir Surinder avec son habit traditionnel et observer l'Ardas, qui est une prière traditionnelle Sikh.

We both had to wear a bandana and take our shoes off before entering the Gurdwara (temple).

Nous devions porter quelque chose pour couvrir notre tête et enlever nos souliers avant d'entrer le Gurdwara (le temple).

Once inside, we had tea and breakfast waiting for all guests. After eating, we all entered the Gurdwara hall for the ceremony. Men and women sit on opposite sides of the hall and on the floor. The ceremony lasted approximately 2hours and was performed entirely in Punjabi. After the ceremony, we had a lunch in the hall's cafeteria.

Une fois à l'intérieur, il y avait du thé et un déjeuner pour les invités. Après avoir mangé, nous sommes entrés le Gurdwara pour la cérémonie. Les hommes et les femmes s'assoient sur les côtés opposés du hall par terre. La cérémonie dure environ 2 heures, et elle est entièrement en punjabi. Après la cérémonie, il y avait un dîner dans la cafétéria.

For the afternoon, the couple went for pictures and additional ceremonies with their families. Cathy and I headed home as we had 5 hours before the evening festivities began. We headed to the banquet hall for the evening where we ate like Kings, danced the night away to traditional music and watched a few performances from a dance troup as well. Pour l'après-midi, le couple allait prendre des photos, puis il y avait des cérémonies additionnelles avec chaque famille. Nous avions 5 heures avant la réception, alors nous sommes retournés à la maison. À notre arrivée pour la réception, on a mangés comme des rois, dansés comme des fous et regardés des danses traditionnelles performé par une troupe de danse. Ci-dessous, quelques photos du mariage.
